FEBRUARY WORKSHOPS!

Did you know we have TWO special workshops coming up in February? Well,  we do! And we hope you’ll check ‘em out and sign up ! Here are the details:

Poms Intensive, February 11th

This great workshop is for girls ages 12 and older who want to have the experience of learning Poms skills and prepare for their upcoming  spring Pom try-outs.

This one day workshop is led by LHS Varsity Pom Coach, Nikki White who led the LHS Pom Squad to first and second place state finishes.   The workshop will be held Thursday February 11th from 6-8 p.m. in Studio 2 at Dancenter North, and is $35.

Partnering Workshop, February 13th

This workshop will be an unbelievable opportunity to learn the intricacies of partnering from a group of great professional dancers.  Two separate levels are offered and each will contain a ballet technique class, a pointe warm-up and lots of partnering technique.  Because we want to be certain that each student receives the proper experience, this workshop will be limited.  Students will be accepted for registration based on the number of professional partners available for the workshop.  Only the levels described below will be allowed to register.

Ballet levels 4/5-6            12:30-3:15 p.m.                        Fee:  $50.00

Ballet levels 6/6-8            2:00-5:00 p.m.                        Fee:  $55.00

Registration will be on a first come first-served basis. Your registration will be confirmed as the procurement of the proper number of partners for registered students is secured. Registration can be made with check or cash. No charges will be accepted.

LOTS going on soon……and, since it’s so snowy out here in Chicagoland, you’ll have plenty of time to read all the important details on our website!

Registration for second semester is going on right now. Be sure to read the brochure carefully before coming in or giving us a call with your chosen classes!

We’re super super excited about our new classes: ZUMBA FOR KIDS as well as Zumba Tone for adults! This is such a fun way to get in shape, so we really hope you’ll give this class a try (or have your kids try it!).

Spring semester starts January 16th and runs through May 22nd. As always, we have something for everyone, and it all culminates in Defile at Carmel HS in May!

We also have the SPRING SHOWCASE this year, so we hope you’re ready for auditions……..

So much to say!

First off, our Clara Tea was SO much fun!  Thanks to all who came to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon at Trattoria Pomigliano.  It was great to see so many young locals thrilled to meet Clara and her friends and to win some great prizes,too!

You helped Pink Hair Tour ‘09 become a great success! We helped Touche Salon on Main Street raise $1200 for breast cancer research. Wow! We sure had a lot of fun watching you get your pink hair extensions in our “salon” for this very important cause!

Again, thank you. Our students and families are just wonderful!

Pink Hair Tour ‘09!

As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Dancenter North is proud to partner with Touche Salon for this very important cause! On October 17th, join us at our studio between 10-3 as part of the Pink Hair Tour! For a $10 donation, you will receive two pink hair extensions.  All proceeds will go to Rush Hospital for this very important research.

Hope to see you on the 17th: just follow the pink signs in our studio for the “salon” location!

A great weekend with Mr. Lehrer and his company LehrerDance at the Genesee- thanks to all who attended and enjoyed it with us! We’re so pleased he will be a part of Nutcracker once again- both as a performer AND as a choreographer!

Speaking of Nutcracker (we do a lot of that lately!): ticket sales for Nutcracker begin soon- mark your calendars! Tickets for both the LHS AND Genesee Theatre shows go on sale on Friday, October 16th, at 10:00 a.m. If you would like LHS tickets, you must call us at 847-367-7970 starting at that time. What a week!

We have announced the cast of our 2009 production of The Magic of the Nutcracker! We are super excited about this amazingly talented cast.  Stay tuned for more news and announcements, etc.

Returning this year is the magnificent Jon Lehrer, who will also be choreographing part of Act One! This is something we are super excited about.

Speaking of Jon Lehrer, he’s in town! LehrerDance performs at the Genesee tomorrow, AND he is giving a master class on Sunday. Don’t miss EITHER! Tickets are still available.

Looking for Carolers….

Do you love to sing, or do you know anyone who loves to sing? If you have GREAT stage presence, a great voice, and want to be a part of the most incredible production of Nutcracker in the area….well, we’re looking for YOU!

The Carolers are an important part of our production: they open the show with some fabulous holiday tunes, and put a smile on everyone’s faces ! This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable performance experience, and to be a part of something truly “magical”!

Nutcracker features a huge cast of over one hundred amazing dancers, actors, gymnasts, professional guest artists, and of course..singers!

If you are interested in joining us for our 21st year at Libertyville High School and the beautifully restored Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, call us today ! Rehearsals are at DCN on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00,starting this Wednesday!

Auditions for Specialty Roles: Nutcracker!

Calling all gymnasts, boys ages 8-15 that like to act, non-professional adult performers that act and move well!We will be holding auditions on September 20th at DCN for specialty roles for our 21st annual production of The Magic of the Nutcracker.

Gymnasts must be able to perform handstands, walkovers, and round-offs.  Those auditioning must not be taller than 5 feet.  Their audition date is Sunday, September 20, 4:00 p.m.

Boys who are athletic and enjoy acting are sought for the “Party Scene” of the production.  The boys audition is on Sunday, September 20 at 4:30 .  They are asked to dress comfortably and do not need to have any formal training.

Adult men and women of all ages and sizes are sought for the “Party Scene” as well! Acting ability is a must along with the ability to move well.  They will also audition on Sunday, September 20 at 5:30 p.m.

All auditionees are asked to bring a current photo!
